Oscars 2014
The 86th Academy Awards took place on March 2, 2014, at the Dolby Theater in Hollywood, Los Angeles. Comedian and actress Ellen DeGeneres hosted the ceremony and did a fantastic job, making the ceremony very enjoyable and humorous. The ratings of this year were on 43.72 million, higher than the ones of the Oscars of 2013. 12 Years a Slave won Best Picture. Gravity won 7 awards, which made it the film with most awards this year. Gravity won in the categories of: Best Director (Alfonso Cuarón), Best Original Score, Best Sound Editing, Best Sound Mixing, Best Cinematography, Best Film Editing, and Best Visual Effects. 


Matthew McConaughey won Best Actor for his performance in Dallas Buyers Club. Cate Blanchett won Best Actress for her great performance in Blue Jasmine. Musician and Actor, Jared Leto, won Best Supporting Actor, also for his performance in Dallas Buyers Club. Lupita Nyong'o won Best Supporting Actress for her role in 12 Years a Slave. Despite 12 Years a Slave being her first film, Lupita Nyong'o did an outstanding job while portraying a very challenging role. The Academy Awards of 2014 were amazing. Ellen DeGeneres did a fabulous job hosting the ceremony and the ceremony itself was very entertaining.

Oscars 2013

Oscars 2013
The 85th Academy Awards took place on February 24, 2013 at the Dolby Theater in Hollywood, Los Angeles. Seth MacFarlane hosted the ceremony, which received a rating of 40.38 million. Even though Lincoln had the most nominations (12), Life of Pi won the most awards (4). Argo won Best Picture, while Life of Pi won Best Director for Ang Lee. Argo won best film despite not having a Best Director Nomination. 

Daniel Day-Lewis won Best Actor for the third time for his outstanding performance as President Abraham Lincoln in Lincoln. Jennifer Lawrence won Best Actress for her hilarious yet emotional performance in Silver Linings Playbook. While Jennifer Lawrence was arriving to the stage to accept her awards, she tripped. Her fall became one of the most memorable Oscar moments. Also, she became the second youngest winner in this category. Christoph Waltz won Best Supporting Actor for his role in Django Unchained. Anne Hathaway won Best Supporting Actress for her strong and complex performance in the musical, Les Miserables. The Academy Awards of 2013 were very well done. The hosting, musical performances, and the overall outcome of the show was outstanding and very fun to watch.

The 84th Academy Awards took place on February 26, 2012, at the Hollywood and Highland Center Theater in Hollywood, Los Angeles. Billy Crystal hosted the ceremony, which received a rating of 39.46 million. The black-and-white movie, The Artist won 5 awards, including Best Picture, Best Director, Best Actor, Best Original Score, and Best Costume Design. Hugo also won 5 awards in the categories of Best Sound Editing, Best Sound Mixing, Best Art Direction, Best Cinematography, and Best Visual Effects.

French Actor, Jean Dujardin, won Best Actor for his role in The Artist. Meryl Streep won Best Actress for her performance as Margaret Tatcher in The Iron Lady. Christopher Plummer, at the age of 82, became the oldest actor to win in the Best Supporting Actor category. He won the Oscar for his role in Beginners. Octavia Spencer won Best Supporting Actress for her emotional performance in The Help. The Oscars this year were amazing and very well hosted. It was interesting to see how the iconic Meryl Streep won and award for the third time.

Oscars 2011

 Oscars 2011
The 83rd Academy Awards took place in February 27, 2011 at the Kodak Theater in Hollywood. Actors James Franco and Anne Hathaway hosted the ceremony and did a fantastic job. This year's ratings were of 37.90 million. The King's Speech won 4 awards, including Best Picture an Best Director. Inception won 4 awards as well; in the categories of Best Sound Editing, Best Sound Mixing, Best Cinematography, and Best Visual Effects.

Colin Firth won Best Actor for his outstanding performance as King George VI in The King's Speech. Natalie Portman won Best Actress for her strong and powerful performance in Black Swan. Christian Bale won Best Supporting Actor for his role in The Fighter. Melissa Leo won in the category of Best Supporting Actress, also for her performance in The Fighter. The Oscars this year were very enjoyable. James Franco and Anne Hathaway did an amazing job hosting the ceremony and all of the winners were worthy and deserving of their awards.

Oscars 2010

Oscars 2010
The 82nd Academy Awards took place on March 7, 2010 at the Kodak Theater in Hollywood. Steve Martin and Alec Baldwin hosted the Oscars and made the ceremony hilarious and enjoyable. The ratings of this year were great, much higher than the previous years, scoring 41.62 million views. The Hurt Locker won six Oscars, including Best Picture and Best Director (Kathryn Bigelow). Avatar won 3 awards. 

Jeff Bridges won Best Actor for his role in Crazy Heart. Sandra Bullock won Best Actress for her amazing yet heartbreaking performance in The Blind Side. Christoph Waltz won Best Supporting Actor  for his role in Inglourious Basterds, while Mo'Nique won Best Supporting Actress for her performance in Precious. I personally enjoyed the Oscars very much this year. The hosts were great and all of the winners did an outstanding job in their respective films.

Oscars 2009

Oscars 2009
The 81st Academy Awards took place on February 22, 2009 at the Kodak Theater. The amazing actor, Hugh Jackman, hosted the Oscars and made the ceremony very entertaining. The ratings this year were much higher than last year, receiving 36.94 million views. Slumdog Millionaire won 8 awards, including Best Picture and Best Director (Danny Boyle). The Curious Case of Benjamin Button won 3 awards. 
Sean Penn won Best Actor for the second time for his fantastic performance in Milk. Kate Winslet won Best Actress for her role in The Reader. Heath Ledger won Best Supporting Actor for his role as The Joker in The Dark Knight. This was a very special award due to the fact that it was a posthumous award (Heath Ledger had died in 2008). Penelope Cruz won Best Supporting Actress for her role in Vicky Cristina Barcelona. She became the first Spanish actress to win an Oscar in this category. This year's Academy Awards were very special. History was made due to Heath Ledger's posthumous award and to Penelope Cruz's Best Supporting Actress award. It was one of my favorite Academy Awards ceremony ever.

Oscars 2008

Oscars 2008
The 80th Academy Awards took place on February 24, 2008, once again at the Kodak Theater in Los Angeles. Jon Stewart hosted the ceremony for the second time. The ratings of this year were a little bit lower than usual, receiving 31.76 million views. No Country for Old Men won the most awards (4), including Best Picture and Best Director. The Bourne Ultimatum comes after than, winning 3 Oscars.

Daniel Day-Lewis won Best Actor for his outstanding performance in There Will Be Blood. Marion Cotillard took home the award for Best Actress for her breath-taking performance as French singer, Edith Piaf, in Le Vie en rose. Javier Bardem won Best Supporting Actor for his role in No Country for Old Men. In the Best Supporting Actress category, Tilda Swinton was the winner for here role in Michael Clayton. The Academy Awards this year came out very good, and it was interesting to see that many of the winning films were non-English speaking films.

Oscars 2007

Oscars 2007
The 79th Academy Awards took place at the Kodak Theater in Los Angeles in February 25, 2007. The reality-show star and comedian Ellen DeGeneres hosted the Oscars and did a great job, making the ceremony humorous yet appropriate. The ratings of this year were of 39.92 million. The most award-winning movie of the night was The Departed, winning 4 awards including Best Picture and Best Director for Martin Scorsese. Pan's Labyrinth came after with 3 awards.

Forest Whitaker won Best Actor for his role in The Last King of Scotland. Helen Mirren won Best Actress for her incredible and powerful performance as Queen Elizabeth II in The Queen. Alan Arkin won Best Supporting Actor and Jennifer Hudson won Best Supporting Actress. This year's Oscars were amazing and very entertaining to watch. They were very well hosted and also, all of the winning movies deserved their awards for the deep effort that the staff and crew put into them.

Oscars 2006

Oscars 2006
The 78th Academy Awards were held at the Kodak Theater in Los Angeles in March 5, 2006. Jon Stewart hosted the grand ceremony which received a rating of 38.64 million. Crash won the Academy Awards for Best Picture, Best Original Screenplay, and Best Film Editing. Brokeback Mountain, King Kong, and Memoirs of a Geisha won each 3 awards as well. 

Ang Lee won Best Director for Brokeback Mountain. Philip Seymour Hoffman won Best Actor for his amazing performance in Capote. Reese Witherspoon won Best Actress for her performance as country star, June Carter Cash, in Walk the Line. George Clooney won Best Supporting Actor while Rachel Weisz won in the category of Best Supporting Actress. The Academy Awards of 2006 went very well and all of the winners of the night truly deserved their awards. Their was a big mixture of movie genres among the winning movies, which was interesting.

The 77th Academy Awards took place on February 27, 2005 at the Kodak Theater in Hollywood, Los Angeles. Chris Rock hosted the ceremony which aired in ABC and received a rating of 42.16 million. The Aviator won the most awards (5). This was one of the few occasions in which a different movie wins more awards than the Best Picture winner. Million Dollar Baby won 4 awards, including Best Picture and Best Director (Clint Eastwood). 

Jamie Fox won Best Actor for his performance as Ray Charles in Ray. Hilary Swank won her second Oscar for Best Actress for her role in Million Dollar Baby. Morgan Freeman also won Best Supporting Actor for his great performance in Million Dollar Baby. Cate Blanchett won Best Supporting Actress for her role as the iconic Katharine Hepburn in The Aviator. This has been the only time in history in which an actress has won an Oscar for portraying another Oscar-winning actress. The Academy Awards went amazingly well and the ceremony was fun, entertaining and surprising.

Oscars 2004
The 76th Academy Awards took place on February 29, 2004 once again at the Kodak Theater in Hollywood. The Oscars were extremely successful scoring 43.56 million views, much more views than last year's ceremony. The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King broke a record, winning 11 awards including Best Director and Best Picture. Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World and Mystic River each won 2 Academy Awards. 



Sean Penn won Best Actor for his role in Mystic River, while Charlize Theron won Best Actress for her role in Monster. Tim Robbins won Best Supporting Actor for his role in Mystic River as well. In the Best Supporting Actress category, Renee Zellweger was the winner for her role in Cold Mountain. Finding Nemo won the Oscar for Best Animated Feature. I enjoyed watching the 76th Academy Awards, all the movies that won were extremely good and deserving of their awards, specially The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King.

The 75th Academy Awards were held on March 23, 2003 at the Kodak Theater in Hollywood, Los Angeles once again. Steve Martin hosted the ceremony for the second time and he was able to make the ceremony very entertaining and fun to watch. The ratings of these year went well, achieving 33.04 million views in the network of ABC. Chicago received the most awards (6) and the most nominations as well (13). The Pianist also was also one of the most successful movies, winning Oscars. 

Adrien Brody took home the award for Best Actor for his heartbreaking performance in The Pianist. In the Best Actress category, Nicole Kidman won for her performance as Virginia Woolf in The Hours.  Chris Cooper won Best Supporting Actor and Catherine Zeta-Jones won Best Supporting Actress. Chicago won Best Picture while Roman Polanski took home the award for Best Director in The Piano. The Academy Awards of 2003 went very well and it was interesting to see the large mixture of movie genres involved in the ceremony.

The 74th Academy Awards ceremony took place on March 24, 2002. The ceremony was held at the Kodak Theater in Hollywood, Los Angeles. The legendary actress, Whoopi Goldberg, hosted the awards show and did a fabulous job! A Beautiful Mind was the big winner of the night, wining four awards in the categories of Best Picture, Best Director, Best Supporting Actress, and Best Adapted Screenplay. 



Denzel Washington won Best Actor for his role as Alonzo Harris in Training Day, while Halle Berry won best actress for her great performance as Leticia Musgrove in Monster's Ball. Jim Broadbent won Best Supporting Actor and Jennifer Connelly won Best Supporting Actress. Some movies that won several awards include: The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring with four awards, and Moulin Rouge! and Black Hawk Down with two Oscars each. The 74th Academy Awards were very successful and entertaining, and even history was made, due to the fact that Halle Berry was the first African-American to win Best Lead Actress.
