Oscars 2005
The 77th Academy Awards took place on February 27, 2005 at the Kodak Theater in Hollywood, Los Angeles. Chris Rock hosted the ceremony which aired in ABC and received a rating of 42.16 million. The Aviator won the most awards (5). This was one of the few occasions in which a different movie wins more awards than the Best Picture winner. Million Dollar Baby won 4 awards, including Best Picture and Best Director (Clint Eastwood).
Jamie Fox won Best Actor for his performance as Ray Charles in Ray. Hilary Swank won her second Oscar for Best Actress for her role in Million Dollar Baby. Morgan Freeman also won Best Supporting Actor for his great performance in Million Dollar Baby. Cate Blanchett won Best Supporting Actress for her role as the iconic Katharine Hepburn in The Aviator. This has been the only time in history in which an actress has won an Oscar for portraying another Oscar-winning actress.
